Our Philosophy
We are dedicated to meeting the needs of each child, their parents, caregivers and extended families through the 8 Pillars of Daybreak :
1. Partnership
The relationship between family and child is pivotal to who the child has been and will become. We value this relationship so we support, nurture and enrich it through a partnership between parents and teaching staff that acknowledges ‘parents know their children best’.
2. Self-worth
Children who are valued and affirmed for who they are will achieve their potential. Each child’s personality and learning style is respected and positively encouraged in a non-competitive but challenging environment.
3. Uniqueness
Each child has a unique cultural, family and spiritual background that combines with their specific personality and learning style. We provide a learning programme whereby each child can choose their level of participation knowing teachers will respect their choices with trust and love.
4. Belonging & Inclusion
When all backgrounds are welcomed and affirmed, links between the child, their family and the wider world are enhanced. Experiences at Daybreak help children realise they have a place and their contribution is valued. Regular routines and events help children feel comfortable and secure.
5. Safety & Well-being
Children learn best when they feel safe and their emotional and physical health is promoted. Be assured that your children are cared for in the safest and healthiest environment possible. We strive for a secure environment for work, learning, play and social development.
6. Learning & Exploration
When play and work are valued, children’s efforts become more focused and purposeful. We explore all curriculum areas. Through these children learn from exploration that makes sense of the natural, social, physical and material world.
7. Values & Spirituality
Learning enhances the child’s spiritual nature and develops their values so they can express themselves creatively at a higher level. We encourage children to develop grace and courtesy through manners, respect for the environment (both living and non-living) and learning about goodness and love in their family. We affirm virtues within the child and encourage their ability to recognise them in others.
8. Balancing fun & Indicental Learning
Children learn best as they informally discover about themselves, others and their world. This harnesses their natural curiosity and thirst for knowledge. We recognize that children must feel secure for learning to occur. Our programme is based on playfulness and following the child’s interests through activities and excursions. This enables them to connect with and learn alongside others.
